Jockey Club Gold Cup - Curlin

Reigning Horse of the Year Curlin became the winningest horse in North American racing history as his earnings topped $10.2 million with the victory in the $750,000 Jockey Club Gold Cup at a rainy Belmont Park.

The four-year-old colt, trained by Steve Asmussen and owned by California vintner Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables, added $450,000 to his career earnings for a total of $10,246,800, surpassing the 12-year-old record of $9,999,815.

Curlin's next race may be a showdown with 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown in the Breeders' Cup Classic on October 25 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.
